GRANDMA'S WALLPAPER.

~is how I would describe the print off my new blazer.

[[well I say new, we all know it's from Rokit.]]

 I'm a big lover of prints ~ I love designing them, wearing them, and mixing them up. So when I saw this jacket come in it was love at first sight. \(**)/

Mixing it up with a scarf from my own SS13 collection~

I really love the print, it's a little Asian, and a little quaint, and my mom has curtains in her bathroom a lot like it.

Let me know what you think and check out this look on lookbook.nu~~ !!

BIRDS NEST.

Spring is here !!

Chiii~huuu !! (((((ノ☉3☉)ノ

["yippeee" in Hawaiian Pigeon]

So to celebrate Spring I bought some birds...

fake ones though.

They live in my hair [yep, this is how my brain works].

I got them from Paperchase, in the wedding section [an exciting place to be as I'm planning mine *eeeee*]. I think they're meant to be on place settings and things like that, but this isn't the first time I've worn birds in my hair so I knew right away where their new home would be!

They had quite dark brown feathers on them so I had them clipped, 1. So they don't fly away *duh* and 2. because I very rarely wear brown in any capacity.

Their little crocodile clips are probably murdering my bleached hair but it means they haven't fallen out!

So here they are in action !!

They sit really nice
with my flower headband.

With bows too!

Let me know what you think ~ should I wear more animals in my hair? *yes*
What creature should be next?

Thanks to the beautiful Ellie from Rose and Vintage, I have been nominated for a Versatile Blogger Award !! (^3^) I never get nominated for anything so this is a little exciting~わくわく! So the rules are that I have to give like some facts about me, soo... here we go~~!

·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·

1~ I am Christian, I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Saviour. It's amazing to have my faith, it grounds me and keeps me going. But it's very difficult in the fashion world to stay strong to my faith but I believe that I was put here for that reason. So here I try my best!! (≧◡≦)

2~ I was born with an extra toe on my right foot and only had it completely removed last year. This is a post about it.

3~ I was in a film when I was a baby ~ playing the role of a baby. :P It was Catherine Cookson's The Black Candle. I got paid and I bought a cuddly teddy bear and a pair of shoes for my mum... although I didn't get a choice in my generosity  I wasn't aware of anything yet ~ I was living my role, ne. :3

4~ I have a fear of moths and butterflies, I don't like their fluttering wings and if one comes near me... well I'm just not prepared to let that happen.HAH

5~ 日本語おべんきょしてます。I'm teaching myself Japanese, and hope to study it once I settle down in one country.

6~ A lot of things I have or try on at work are actually for Kids ~ which just goes to show where my mental age is !! heehee My friend said that if I have an Biography it should be called "But it didn't fit because it was for a 5yo" ...

7~ When I was 'little' lets say I was 7-8 ~ I was being walked home from school by one of the mum's and her kids who went to the same school. I had no idea what to call her so I said
"Can I call you mum to make things easier?"

To which she replied No, and her kids were snickering at me. (;_;) <= not actually upset about it! :P

The rest of the walk was terribly awkward.

My sister loves to tell everyone this story so I thought I'd beat her to it and tell the internet. Haha It's pretty funny and we still laugh about it a lot, but it is just a drop in the ocean of embarrassing awkward moments of my life.

·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·*¯`·.,¸,.·

LOLITA VINTAGE.

Yay back to more vintage clothes ~!!

In just a second... :3

Recently I've been getting more into Lolita-kei styles.

[Here's some background]
I am really into Japanese street styles
, not very surprising I know, but if you're new here I just thought you should know that.

(o ̄ ̄o)

There are different styles and I've never been into labelling my own style but I like mixing around with these ones because the basis is to look kawaii rather than cool. And that's just me ~ I'm not cool at all. (⊙3⊙)

I first got into Decora ~ a long time ago. Internet rules state 'pics or it didn't happen' but I honestly can't find any. (≧▽≦) Decora means 'decorate' and is about decorating yourself with loads of accessories and colours.

I'm mentioning decora because sometimes I like to mix a little decora with lolita and fairy-kei styles.

Lolita comes in many different forms ~ Gothic lolita is a common one. A lot of frills, lace, corsets, big skirts, parasols ~ dressing like a doll. Pastel Lolita is my own personal favourite. ^^

Fairy-kei seems pretty new in comparison, it's basically pastel colours and childish things ~~ yaaayyy!!
~~~
ANYWAY ~ background over.
(◠‿◠)
Rokit have been getting in some older dresses ~ so I treated myself to a dress and some new shoes.
And from that comes my first attempt at lolita with an outfit entirely from Rokit [bar tights]
 ~(•ε • ~)
Liz Claiborne silk head scarf ~Rokit
Mickey+Minnie Mouse gold chain ~Rokit
Mint lace dress + cowgirl boots ~Rokit
Fluffy backpack with ears ~also from Rokit Still not sure what animal it is ~ I say rabbit, my other half says moose (!) and some of my friends say koala.
It was so fun being a little lolita ~ someone at the shop said I looked like a Polly Pocket *day made* hehe !! (≧◡≦)
So please let me know what you think ~ I'll be posting this to my lookbook.nu too ~~!!
HERE IT IS <-clicky
S//S13 'HIGH ST.' PIECES
Wow so not going to talk about vintage stuff this time. (0_0) Fashion goes around in circles and if I get something from the "High Street" then they'll be like a billion other people with the same stuff ~ so I usually avoid it.
But this Spring there has been two things that I really liked, and I'm going to show you them in one outfit ~ Efficient ne!
\(^0^)/
So the first thing is this RAD raglan sleeve baseball top. I really love old school style sport stuff and have been after something with raglan sleeves for a while. So that style together with a totally dated word is just so awesome to me. It's from Urban Outfitters ~ you can get it HERE
The next thing is...
My awesome new Vans ~ these are the new SS vans collection, they come in acid wash blue too but for me, the closer to pink the better. ;P
I added the smiley face laces to make them even more interesting + unique !! :)
You can get them from the vans website or from Office, which is where I got mine. ^3^
I really love them ~ they're so comfy and something I can just pull on whenever.
So I had to balance out these store bought high street stuff with something handmade from Etsy ~ my flower headband from the Etsy store MILKTEA.
~Outfit Breakdown~
Flower headband ~ MILKTEA
Oversized Flannel Shirt ~ Ralph Lauren Polo (Rokit)
RAD Baceball top ~ Urban Outfitters
Denim cut-offs ~ Levis (DIY)
Gold Spotty tights ~ H&M
Long Grey socks ~ MySocks (Rokit)
Shoes ~ Vans
Laces ~ Ebay. :P
Let me know what you think!x
DIY// DUNGAREES.
I have been on a mission to find the perfect pair of dungarees (or overalls as they're called Stateside) for such a long time! Like all of my clothes I had to fall in love with them as well as actually fitting properly.
And at Rokit, the latter is the tricky part because we don't size anything. And the dungarees we have are so varied ~ from comfy looking Disney ones for crafting cat-lovers of the late 80's to authentic worn-down workmen's overalls for lumberjacks.
Basically From This
To This
 [We do actually have some Carhartt ^-^]
So I finally found the pair for me ~ baggy but without making me look like a hippo.* And they were a mid-blue with a pink rinse to them ~ kawaii !!
*trick is to just wear them with a belt ~ even if there is no belt loops!*
The only problem was that they had some pen stains right on the fly of the pants, which was... awkward. Not that noticeable but because I noticed it I figured I should do something.
Unfortunately my knowledge on bleach completely escaped me as I attempted use it to get rid of the stains. (
ಠ_ಠ) I didn't dilute the bleach or wet the fabric!
Straight bleach onto dry fabric will react really really fast *you have been warned* ;D so I basically turned hardly-noticeable pen stains into a huge white blotch between the legs.
ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ
My answer?
I bleached all of the dungarees from the top to just below the knee. To bleach properly you need a bucket, any house hold white bleach, and some rubber gloves. Sometimes it will say on the back of the bleach that you need 5 liters of water for every 10ml bleach or something like that, but that's really just for making white things whiter. The best way to do it is to put what you think will be enough water to cover the fabric in the bucket, then add a fair amount of bleach, I'd say, squirt the bottle like 4-5 times or if you want to be more accurate use around 250ml, then add the fabric. If the water isn't covering the fabric ~ add more water and more bleach. Check on it after 5-10minutes then around 1/2 an hour after that to give you an idea of how fast it will bleach.
[You can add more bleach as you go on if you want it to speed up ~ just make sure that there is lots more water than bleach. :) ]
Use rubber gloves all the time because that would suck if it got on your hands !!
\(´Д`)/
You can just check visually when it's bleached enough, which could take a few hours. If I remember correctly I think the dungarees took about around 6hours and I did them in parts (6hours for each part). When you think it's been bleached enough rinse the fabric well in cold water and then stick it in the washing machine with detergent. The fabric will probably smell like bleach for a few washes so watch out because it could be an irritant to your skin if there is still too much bleach in it ~ another wash is okay!
After I bleached my dungarees they didn't have the pink rinse to them so instead I used a Dylon washing machine dye *powder pink flavour* ~ and as it reacted to the bleached and unbleached parts of the dungarees it gave them a kind of dip-dyed affect !! (^_^)
My Result!!
Let me know what you think of them !! I think this could be the definition of a happy accident. ;D
