S//S13 'HIGH ST.' PIECES

Wow so not going to talk about vintage stuff this time. (0_0) Fashion goes around in circles and if I get something from the "High Street" then they'll be like a billion other people with the same stuff ~ so I usually avoid it.
But this Spring there has been two things that I really liked, and I'm going to show you them in one outfit ~ Efficient ne!

\(^0^)/

So the first thing is this RAD raglan sleeve baseball top. I really love old school style sport stuff and have been after something with raglan sleeves for a while. So that style together with a totally dated word is just so awesome to me. It's from Urban Outfitters ~ you can get it HERE.

The next thing is...

My awesome new Vans ~ these are the new SS vans collection, they come in acid wash blue too but for me, the closer to pink the better. ;P
I added the smiley face laces to make them even more interesting + unique !! :)
You can get them from the vans website or from Office, which is where I got mine. ^3^
I really love them ~ they're so comfy and something I can just pull on whenever.

So I had to balance out these store bought high street stuff with something handmade from Etsy ~ my flower headband from the Etsy store MILKTEA.

~Outfit Breakdown~
Flower headband ~ MILKTEA
Oversized Flannel Shirt ~ Ralph Lauren Polo (Rokit)
RAD Baceball top ~ Urban Outfitters
Denim cut-offs ~ Levis (DIY)
Gold Spotty tights ~ H&M
Long Grey socks ~ MySocks (Rokit)
Shoes ~ Vans
Laces ~ Ebay. :P

Let me know what you think!x

OUTFIT POST #6.

This is just a simple little outfit ~ but I thought I would show you it because of my shoes and my t-shirt. :3

Here's the t-shirt~ I have a few geeky t-shirts, and this one recently was upgraded from sleepwear to daywear. I'm not sure how easy it is to read, it says~ "NINJA // XL // Propety of the assassin department".
It's meant to be a kinda play off of the "property of the physical education department" or something, which tickled me a little. I wish it didn't say XL, because I didn't buy an XL, this is a small men's T. I really think they should of stuck to their little t-shirt joke and made it so it said the size you bought, but I understand the cost implications in that so I'm not too upset.

Winter shoes! Well... not really with the cut-outs at the side but they're my smart smart work shoes from when I worked at Reiss, they're Dr.Martins but I wish they had the little tag at the bag so it's more obvious that there are. I'm still breaking them in at the moment, DMs take such a long time so get super comfy but that's how you know they'll last. (^.^)

T-shirt - some geeky t-shirt website [Sorry! I can't remember!]
Skirt - Actually a top, from H&M, with the sleeves wrapped round my waist
Tights - H&M
Shoes - Dr.Martin

Hair is just half up to the side with a pom-pom hair band ~ also from H&M.

OUTFIT POST #5.

 New things New Outfit Post.

Got a few new accessories from the shop the other day and here they are.

I love wearing something in my hair and it helps if that something is super kawaii ~ this is a YSL fabric sample that was in among the silk scarves, the pastel colours and weird print meant that I had to get it.

The second 'new thing' is this gold Disney necklace ~ I am loving the Disney stuff we're getting in the shop at the moment, I want a lot of it, but I chose this as it makes me think of Teddy and I [for those new to this blog Teddy is my much much better half]. The little gold hearts on the chain make it look extra special and the pendant itself is on one link of the chain so it's not going to go spinning round my neck.

The T-shirt I've had for a while now, it says something like Strawberry Bunny or something. Just some random kawaii print. It's crazy stretched though, and so now the v-neck doesn't sit like a perfect V but I don't mind that, I like wearing baggy, loose-fitting Ts.

I am also wearing my favourite belt [not really a huge accomplishment for that belt as I have like 3] ~ just a simple black strap with a little 'F' buckle but I love it because it makes me feel a little bit like a superhero. ;D

Here's the run-down::
Head Scarf - YSL Fabric Sample from Rokit
Cardigan - Rokit
T - Heritage 1971 / Forever21
Belt - Rokit
Jeans - H&M
Shoes - Converse

YOU CAN'T BEAT A GOOD T.

..You really can't !! Give me something they wouldn't give some amount of casual elegance to. They are the foundation for any good 'totally-not-trying-but-still-look-awesome' look, be it an obscure band t-shirt or a faded hippy motif.

I am quite the connoisseur of t-shirts, if I do say so myself, now perhaps not so much as I love to rock a button down shirt from time to time. But back in the day (age 16) I had faaaarrr to many t-shirts, [according to my mother there was a standard amount of t-shirts one should own and I was way over the limit.] I can't remember the exact number but I had around 50, most of them in regular circulation. If I went on vacation for 5 days I would take around 10-15 t-shirts, in case outfits or moods changed at the last minute [and at age 16 the latter often did].

So when, on my first day at Rokit, a T-shirt of awesomeness levels that I hadn't considered came in on the delivery, it was like God was reassuring me that I'm where I'm meant to be [seriously He knows how much I like a good t-shirt].

And here it is~ my first day gem and my favourite favourite t-shirt out of all the t-shirts I have [so not counting the awesome Bazooka Bubblegum one that pretty much vanished one day... yup still a little sore].

Love this T so much I don't care that my necklace is backwards... well maybe I do.. a little bit.

This is crazy awesome right !? I like to think that there was this gun-totin' father giving this T as a gift to his daughter so she wouldn't feel to manly when out hunting with him in camo. "Way to scare off the animals dad, everyone knows that unicorns were too deadly for this world ~ that's why they're dead with the dinosaurs."

See how happy I am!? This isn't faked...

So check out the store Rokit.co.uk for more awesome random Ts. And for all those that think 50 wasn't enough ~ I salute you.

OUTFIT POST #3

Today's style:: Kawaii Grunge.

Flannel Shirt: Ralph Lauren Polo from Rokit
Sleeveless T-shirt: Harley Davison Rokit Recycled
Jeans: Levis (Bleached myself)
Shoes: Converse

When mixing together two different styles one is going to win - no doubt. But that's okay because if it was neck + neck I think it would be too miss matched and confusing. It's better to have a grunge style with a hint of kawaiiness or super kawaii with a some grunge themes. The Flannel shirt is grunge but it's RL pastel colours make it cute too, so I wore it with my Harley Davison T-shirt [Rokit took the sleeves off and made the armholes deeper hence Rokit Recylced]. Here I attempted the same facial expression as the wolf, but I'm glad I can't wrinkle up my nose like that !!
Kawaii-ed it up with my fluffy rucksack. It's got ears too and I put a little blue bow on it's face [not grunge at all but I did say one theme had to win!] Teddy insists that my backpack is a moose, it's not a moose it's a rabbit and I'll prove it's a rabbit when I draw a rabbit's face on it. Like this~ =3 ne?
Sweatbands, they were 90s ne? Same as grunge is 90s ne? This little yellow cutie is from ASOS and here I mimic the face.

What two trends do you like to mix~ Let me know in the comments or via twitter. @KawaiiFifi

OUTFIT POST #2

 Hello again.

This outfit is more of a casual-cutie look. Mixing sparkling sequins with lovely soft knits.

Bow:
Viyella
Cardigan: Rokit
Top: Zara (can you believe it?!)
Skirt: Rokit (more on that story later)
Shoes: Converse

I love my big zebra bow! It's actually a long thin silk scarf that my Granny bought me for Christmas last year. I don't understand those long thin scarves, how are you supposed to wear them!? I don't think they're that nice to wrap around your neck like 3 times so I have given it a new purpose. Using a hair band makes it easy to keep the two sides of the bow together and makes it a little adjustable. (^_^)

So many people ask me where I got this top and I am not lying when I say I found it in a Zara sale. It's totally not Zara style but I'm so glad they made it anyway. Where else would I find a half dotted top with a sequinned picture of a racoon's face?
Please tell me if you know, I think this top is awesome.

This was once a Rokit dress, Rokit do up-cycle a lot of their clothes (making leather jackets into bags and making lots of mini skirts out of cute fabrics). I love the fabric from this dress so I decided to do a bit of up-cycling of my own - chopping it off just above the elasticated waist gives me a quick new skirt (with a matching top that needs a hem).

So there you are, another outfit, proof that there is a little method to the madness and contrary to popular belief I don't get dressed in the dark (although I don't mind that miss matched clashy look if I can pull it off ;D).

WHAT I WON'T WEAR #1 THE BARELY-ON-BEANIE.

First of all I just want to say, "fair play" to all those who are rocking this look. I just don't really understand it and wouldn't ever wear it. Here's my explanation why with the help of MSPaint.

Yep, I'm talking about wearing your hat at the tip top of your head so it's barely touching your scalp, leaving the majority of the hat wasted fabric.

I'm tall enough as it is (probably 6ft but in denial about it), so to add about 20cm of extra height in the form of a unused hat shaped a little bit like a baby's bottle just doesn't appeal to me.
However, adding that height with a huge pink bow I may consider. ;3

I've been told that the man who started it all was T.I, and the hip hop scene have been doing it for decades and that's pretty cool...

But so have gnomes.

rockin'

Maybe it's because I'm from a cold country where hats are needed 70% of the year. But I have to admit I can't wait for this to go out of style - sorry! Here's another reason brought to you by MSpaint~

I know that most of these reasons have been about practicality, and there is that. But I wear glasses with no lenses in - I'm not known for practical dressing (honestly ask anyone who has met me even once). I just think it looks a wee bitty silly, there I said it... But you never know, one day I might be wearing the barely-on-beanie (with it's awesome name I just made up now) and then you can tell me to eat it.

But What do you think? Can you prove me wrong? Comments below or via twitter please !!

SCOUTING FOR GIRLS...?

I really love the stuff we get in the store, always fun and random ~ never something that is so easily obtained anywhere else. ;D

Lately I've been enjoying a small collection of Scout Shirts.

The old badges convey an authority in skills like building a camp fire or suggest that you are the 'Den Leader' of your group of friends/work colleagues ~They are so much fun! ^-^

And although it quite clearly states on the shirts~ "BOY scouts of America", the Androgyny style that we all love would would make it super awesome for the gals to rock up these shirts too.

Or rock it like it was meant to be rocked.

Rokit I salute you

trudat

For me however, I'm not as cool. I'm a girly girl and I can't rock androgyny. But even for us kawaii cupcakes there are shirts!

It's the same style as the Scout Shirts
~ Patch pockets + Loose fit.

But these are shirts from different profession/ levels of authority ~so more random badges !!
Yippeeee~

Also because it's not fit for a BOY from BOY Scouts it's a little longer on me. :)

[Please excuse bad iphone photos]
[I need to start taking my camera to work.]

My shirt says that I am
'Motor Vehicle Inspector for British Columbia'
Which I think is great as I can't even drive. ;P

So what do we think? Would you rock a Scout Shirt? And would you try to convince those around you that you earned the badges yourself?
Let me know in the comments or via twitter @kawaiififi
Meanwhile check out rokit.co.uk for more beautifully random vintage goodies.
